ATA truck tonnage index dips in January

The American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) advanced seasonally adjusted For-hire Truck Tonnage Index declined 3.6 percent in January after going up 6.2 percent in December, according to data released by the ATA earlier today.

Trucking: Truckload carrier Celadon acquires Warrior Xpress

Celadon Group Inc., a provider of long-haul, full-truckload freight service in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, said today one of its wholly-owned subsidiaries has acquired the truckload business and certain tractors and trailers of Warrior Express, a trucking services provider in Charles City, Virginia, for approximately $8.3 million.

FRA denies loan and application for Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern railroad

DOT pilot program will allow U.S trucks to make deliveries in Mexico

Under the auspices of year-long pilot program designed to expand United States’ cross border trucking operations with Mexico, U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) secretary Mary E. Peters said today that U.S. trucks will be able to make deliveries in Mexico for the first time.

UPS, Airbus revise A380 air freighter contract

UPS and Airbus announced yesterday announced yesterday they have signed an agreement to change the delivery dates for the freighter version of the A380 jet, as well as provide the option for possible termination of the contract by either party later in 2007.

AAR reports intermodal and carload traffic are both down

Intermodal and carload traffic on United States railroads were down for the week ending February 17 compared to the same timeframe a year ago, according to data released by the Association of American Railroads (AAR) today.
